Invisible Braces – INVISALIGN

The latest form of orthodontics is the one of the „invisible braces”. These ones consist of a sequence of lucent splints, similar to those which are used in the retention. With this kind of treatment mostly only grave malpositions are treated like crowding especially in the lower jaw. Severe malpositions, in which case the extraction of more teeth is necessary, unfortunately cannot be succesfully treated with INVISALIGN yet.

A special impression taking is made by our specialist for INVISALIGN treatments. This dental impression with photos of patients and X-ray images is sent to the USA from where we obtain a computeranimation of the movement of the teeth. This can be discussed with the patient, and we also send this small animation to our patients via e-mail.
Like this the patient can already see the final result before the start of the treatment. Here we also get to know the exact number of the pairs of splints und therewith also the accurate duration of the treatment because each pair of splints has to be worn 14 days. If he is satisfied with the animation, we commission the production of the INVISALIGN splints. If not, arrangements can still be made about the final position of the teeth at patient’s option. The production of the splints lasts approximately 3 weeks. The INVISALIGN splints are sent all at once and the patient has to respect the sequence of the splints exactly and has to apply the next, following splint every 14 days.
To attain a successful result, the patient has to wear the splints at least 23 Hours a day which means that he only is allowed to remove them in order to eat, to drink coloured fluids and of course to brush his teeth. Water can be drunk while the splints are applied. The patient only has to come to us once a month for the surveillance of the treatment.

Advantages:

1. “invisible“ – a thin lucent coat made out of synthetic surrounds the teeth
2. no brackets necessary
3. removable for a short time span
4. teeth are easier to clean
5. short duration of treatment
6. perfect tooth position as a final result
