Pediatric Dentistry
Practising oral hygiene at a young age is crucial since it determines what teeth we are going to have as adults. It is worth familiarizing our children with the toothbrush and getting them to brush their teeth at least in the morning and in the evening. Today there is a wide selection of toothbrushes and toothpastes specifically designed for children. It is important to realize that children are not as skilful with the toothbrush as adults – that is why parents should help them. When the first permanent teeth erupt, children are recommended to start using adult toothpaste, as its composition is different and it cleans teeth more thoroughly.
It is particularly important to point out the role of proper nutrition. Jaws and muscles are formed when the child is chewing something, teeth become cleaner – this is why it is important for the child to chew as much as possible. Sweets and sugary drinks, on the other hand, are to be avoided as they increase the risk of tooth decay.
A regular dental checkup in six-month intervals is highly recommended for your child.
