Combined Dentures

These ones are a combination of a fixed bridge and a removable prosthesis that is retained by a precise attachment. There are no splints visible form the outside.
It is necessary in such cases where the dispersal of the tooth loss has already reached an extent in which the force exercised by chewing and biting is very burdening for the still remaining teeth. Mostly cases are typical in which the patient still has incisors in the front, but a lot of molars are already missing. This kind of denture makes much more demands of the dental technician’s time and also ought to be controlled and tested during the technical work phases. This is why its production lasts longer compared to the simple or removable dentures with splints. Often is this solution optimal for patients who do not have enough bone for an implantation or have to do without it due to cost concerns. At first the teeth are polished, the production of the fixed pieces, the bridges and the precise attachments follows. After the trial in mouth of these and after a further impression taking the removable part is manufactured. A test follows as a control. Enlarged adontia as well as total adontia requires a registration of the occlusion. In a lot of cases combined dentures are a suggestive alternative. Thereby at least two teeth are applied with crowns in which links – anchors, attachments, telescopes or cone crowns – are worked into. With the aid of these links the removable prosthesis is connected with the residual set of teeth. They all have the following advantages in common: optimal charge of the teeth and thus no loosening of teeth; The best cleaning possibility and thus protection from gingival problems and caries. Combined dentures without splints offer a maximum of wearing comfort in combination with an excellent aesthetic.
