Ultrasonic scaling (removal of plaque/concrement)

Professional cleansing

It is a common belief that regular cleaning is sufficient for healthy teeth. Unfortunately the good old toothbrush cannot cope with all deposits and discolourations. You may want to take a good look at the inner side of your incisors in the mirror.

Can you see those yellow-brownish deposits between the gum and the teeth? That is tartar.

Do your teeth have brown spots? Do you notice that you teeth are no longer white? These are microba deposits, which are a combination of food, caffeine, tobacco and hardened saliva. They cannot be removed with your usual toothbrush. Unfortunately these deposits cause gum diseases. This is great environment for bacteria. We recommend that our patients take oral hygiene treatment at least twice a year, which can be part of their regular dental checkup.

How is it done? Is it painful?

First the tartar above and below the gum is removed with the help of the ultrasonic tool. This process is an uncomfortable experience only for those patients whose dental neck is sensitive, for them this treatment is best done with the use of local anaesthetic. After that, discolourations and microba deposits are sprayed with a so-called Prophylex equipment.

• Removal of tartar (depuration)
• manually
• with the latest effective technology → ultrasonic depurator

The head of the ultrasonic tool resonates at a frequency of 24-42 kHz. The plaque/concrement is powdered and removed by air bubbles created by this resonation. A cooling liquid decreases the heat and at the same time removes and flushes the tartar. The ultrasonic tool menas no harm for the dental enamel! It can be used above and below the gum, complemented by manual tools.
In case of extreme sensitivity it can be done with the use of local anaesthetic.
